San Francisco "Summer" is Upon Us

In between melting because I am a total pansy about any temperature above 70 degrees, I've been working on my art site (currently in beta at danrconway.com/art), but this has also given me an excuse to spend a lot more time painting recently! Shoutout to the Gnomon Workshop's tutorial DVDs, they are packed full of information. Worth the price, if it's a field your interested in. My brother Ian and I made a few more guitar videos recently; the first one is up now! Go watch it!. They were very fun to make! Alright, back to melting now.

More Painting

Recently, in between being a PA and retouching gigs, I've taken some time to draw. Even if it's just a paintover (working from an existing plate without changing it too heavily), it's good practice, therapeutic, and reminds me of the type of work I'd most like to be doing. Take a look!

The finished result.

The finished result. This week, I can blame/thank Noah Bradley for inspiring me to go draw more. Check out his work, it's amazing.

Concept Art: Airship Dock

Trying to get back into practice! I drew this the other night.

Airship Dock

I'm particularly pleased with the ship in this case-- have to admit I cheated the perspective up a couple times, though.

In other exciting news, I will be heading to San Diego this weekend for a job interview!

Starting the Weekend Off Right

Comped together a quick little fantasy environment shot these last few days, just for fun. Also useful for taking my mind off the stress of my upcoming grad review.

Last Watch

The base plate is from Fort Funston in San Francisco, and further reference came from Arizona and Santa Barbara, California.

In other news, promo cards arrived yesterday and they look great!

Revamping my Web Presence

Welcome to the relaunch of this site! Which is incredibly generous considering that there were probably six visitors to this page in the last three years. However, this will now be the home of my professional blog, though I admit that sounds like something of a contradiction. As far as content goes, expect to see behind the scenes and, work allowing, WIP stuff here as well as links and so forth. Over the last few days I've been working on a complete redesign of my website which will be live soon at danconway.info.
